We Are Tang & Sass
Tang & Sass was founded in 2022 by artisan bread baker, and chief breadhead, Tanya Beauvais. After spending decades honing her craft and teaching others, the timing seemed right to begin offering her bread to the people of the Charlotte region.
Our name is a nod to the characteristics of the sourdough starters used in almost all our breads and baked goods. As bakers and pastry chefs, we employ our own tang and sass in everything we do.
For us, the bakeshop is a place to explore, enjoy and create thoughtful artisan breads, fascinating pastries, delicious baked goods and occasionally, artisan chocolates. We try not to follow conventions or stick to definitions and just happily create things that we love. We hope you will love and enjoy what we create!
Why Tang & Sass?
So what's that name all about?

Tang & Sass is working to bring delicious, healthy bread to the Charlotte region, one irresistible loaf at a time. Our sourdough bread is a true artisanal bread that is bursting with its own local variety of Tang and Sass. Made with a traditional sourdough starter, aka "Westside Funk" or "Secret Sauce" that has been nurtured for years, our bread has a distinctive tangy taste that is truly irresistible. We 100% believe that our sourdough bread has a certain sass that sets it apart from other bread varieties.

The sass in our sourdough bread comes from the natural fermentation process, which gives it a tangy and slightly sour taste that is both unique and delicious. We use only the finest quality ingredients, including organic flour, natural yeast, and a pinch of sea salt, to ensure that every loaf has the perfect balance of tang and sass. The natural fermentation process, not only adds flavor but it also enhances the nutritional value of the bread. Sourdough bread is known for being easier to digest compared to other bread types, and it has a lower glycemic index, making it a healthier option.

We use the power of our sour, to leaven all our sourdoughs, and when we can we add it in to other items as well. When we do we'll make sure you know. That way you too can be Powered by Sour!

We're passionate about artisanal, organic breads, and pastries that are made using traditional methods. We love the process of baking; but our greatest pleasure is seeing you enjoy our creations.

At Tang & Sass, we believe that food should be more than just fuel - it should be a source of joy and inspiration. We are committed to using only the freshest and most nutritious ingredients and to creating products that are not only delicious but also good for you. Of course we will usually have some treats when you want to have something sweet as well, but rest assured, we don't add anything we wouldn't feed our own families. And we are pretty fussy about what our families eat.

Our team of bakers is passionate about their craft and brings a wealth of experience and expertise to everything they do. They are constantly experimenting with new recipes and techniques, and are always looking for ways to improve and innovate.
